Bite-sized Consulting and In-House Classes

If you don’t need a full-blown consulting relationship, you can buy single days and optionally break that day into eight 1-hour remote sessions (which may be combined). There’s a 10% discount when you purchase two or more days. I’m happy to invoice you if an e-payment doesn’t work, but at this discounted rate, I can’t start work until the payment has been received.

Use the sessions for:

• Ad-hoc executive or team coaching and advice. Build software better!
• AI-friendly architectural services: assessment, review, coaching, classes.
• Classes (details below). You can choose from the catalog, or we can custom-build classes for you.
• Organizational assessment and advice.
• Architectural assessment and advice.
• Hiring help.
• Mob/Ensemble-Programming coaching (often combined with TDD coaching).
• Guided Event-Storming or workflow-based architectural sessions.
• And more! (set up a Zoom chat to discuss other options).

The Fine Print

● Cost and discounts: USD 4,000/day. We offer a 5% discount if you purchase more than one day.
● Classes: This agreement covers consulting services and classes of up to 8 attendees. You may add additional attendees for $500/student/day. Class size for hands-on classes and workshops is limited to 24 students. There is no size limit on lecture-only classes.
● Acceptance: We will need a formal acceptance before we can commit to dates. An email, letter of agreement, purchase order, or payment in whole or in part constitutes acceptance of this agreement. For on-site classes, please do that as early as possible so we can arrange airfare.
● Travel days: We bill two additional travel days for all work outside the San Francisco area unless we are already in your area for some other reason.
● Travel expenses: This bid includes all travel expenses, including airfare. We do not track or provide receipts for individual expenses.
● Days, Hours, and Expiration: We bill in increments of one day. A “day,” may be split into eight hour-long remote segments and starts when the first segment is used and expires three months after that date. Any unused time is forfeit after that point.
● Scheduling sessions: For remote work, please schedule hour-long remote sessions at https://calendly.com/allenholub/60min.
● Payment and Purchase Orders: You can pay via the checkout on the current page or by purchase order. Work will not begin until payment is received in full. All amounts are payable in USD (or EUR if agreed in advance). Payments must be made by ACH, EFT, or other electronic means. We do not accept checks. We can accept payment by credit card, PayPal Invoice, or Venmo for a 3.5% fee. For classes, participants can pay individually via electronic means or by card to facilitate management approval. We’ll typically email PayPal invoices to each student to facilitate reimbursement.
● Cancellation: Payments are non-refundable, and missed sessions are forfeited. If we must cancel, we will reschedule at the first mutually acceptable date. If our negotiated terms are not payment in full in advance, the full cost quoted above is due in full immediately on cancellation.
● Visas, etc.: Allen is a dual US/EU (Austrian) citizen, so he can work on-site anywhere in the EU or the USA without difficulty. For other locations, you are responsible for all paperwork and visa fees. Allen is a US resident, and you will be paying his US company, so no income-tax withholding is required in the EU.
● VAT. You are responsible for paying VAT or other local taxes (VAT reverse charge as per Article 196 of the EU VAT Directive applies).

● For large-group keynotes and presentations, we are happy to negotiate a price with you that will be considerably lower than our normal per-student rate for classes.
